Startup Advisory

A product and go-to-market advisor, paid in equity.

I join a small number of startups as an advisor on product and go-to-market. No retainer: I take a small equity stake, so the advice is only worth something if the company wins. Once a month we work through the decisions in front of you, and between sessions you send me what cannot wait.

When It Fits

Advisory is for founders who do the product work and want a second head on it:

You run product yourself, and no one checks your thinking. You are the founder and the product lead. Mentors give you an hour and an opinion; you want someone who knows your company and stays.
Go-to-market is the open question. You know what you are building. Who to sell it to first, how to price it and how to reach them is still a guess.
Cash goes into the product, not into advisors.A retainer is hard to justify before revenue. Equity ties the advice to the outcome.
Investors ask about the product. The next round needs a product story backed by evidence, not a feature list.

Advisory, Program or Fractional?

Three ways to work on a new product. The difference is who does the product work, and how often we meet.

Startup AdvisoryYou run product. Once a month, a senior advisor works through your decisions with you, for the long run, paid in equity.
PMF ProgramYou do the product work, coached every week for 3 to 6 months, with interviews and experiments facilitated. Paid as a monthly retainer. See the PMF Program →
Fractional Head of Product / CPOI do the product work inside your team, 10 to 20 hours a week. Paid as a monthly retainer. See the fractional role →

Products I Helped Build

The advice comes from doing the work, as a first product hire and a Head of Product:

How It Starts

Step 1

Intro call

A free 20-minute call on what you are building, who it is for and the decision you are stuck on.

Step 2

A first working session

We work through one real decision together, so both of us see how the advice works before anyone signs anything.

Step 3

The agreement

A written advisor agreement: the equity, how it vests and how either side can end it.

Every month

Work the decisions

A working session on what is in front of you, async review in between, and a short note on what we decided and what you will test next.

FAQs

How much equity?
A small stake, agreed per startup and written into an advisor agreement that vests over time, so it follows the work actually done. We set it once I know the company.
Is there a monthly fee?
No. Advisory is paid in equity. If you want weekly, hands-on coaching, the PMF Program is paid as a monthly retainer.
How do you choose startups?
I take on a small number at a time, so each one gets real attention. I look for founders working on the company full-time, a market I can judge from the inside (I have built products from 0 to 1 in fintech, HR, design and analytics), and evidence beyond the idea: interviews, a prototype or first users.
How is this different from Product Coaching & Advisory?
Product Coaching & Advisory is for product leaders and teams in companies with a product function: 5 to 10 hours a week, paid as a retainer. Startup Advisory is for founders: once a month, paid in equity.
What if we need more than once a month?
Then the PMF Program (weekly coaching for 3 to 6 months) or a fractional Head of Product (10 to 20 hours a week) fits better, and advisory can pick up again after either.
How does it start?
With a free 20-minute intro call, in English or Polish. Bring what you are working on, and leave with the next step, even if it does not involve us.
